Give NK Refugees a Voice

TNKR is a nonprofit organization that seeks to help North Korean refugees prepare for their future and overcome settlement challenges in South Korea. After a difficult journey to South Korea, many more challenges still lie ahead. North Koreans might struggle with tasks such as applying for jobs, getting a higher education, and pursuing a career. TNKR does whatever it can to ease this process for the refugees by teaching them English, which has become an integral part of getting a job or pursuing a career in South Korea. YOU can also help out the refugees by chipping in so TNKR can support more refugees; we still have 70 more waitlisted North Korean refugees . Join in the effort and let’s make a difference!!

TNKR는 비영리기구단체로 탈북민들의 미래를 위해 같이 노력하며 한국에서 적응하는데 도움을 주는 단체입니다.이들에게 탈북이라는 난관후에도 끝이 아닙니다. 한국에서 정착하는 과정에서 부딪히는 장벽들은 무궁무진하지만 제일 어려워하고 난감해 하는 것이 영어라고 합니다. 요즘 취업하기 위해 토익학원, 토플학원 등은 필수적이게 됐습니다. 하지만 부담스러운 비용과 따라갈 수 없는 수업들 때문에 영어는 탈북민들이 한국정착과정에 제일 힘들어 하는 부분이라고 합니다. 이들을 위해 TNKR은 외국인 선생님들과 한국인선생님들의 1대1 수업으로 도움을 드리고 있습니다. TNKR은 그들의 목소리를 높히고 북한인권 문제를 국제적으로 알 릴 수 있도록 함께 노력하고 있습니다.

During 2021, Freedom Speakers International will be focused on the "Voices from the North" project. The major activities of the project will be partnering with North Korean refugees who seek to:

* publish books in English.

* become more engaged with public speaking.

* participate in at least one English speech contest.

* speak at an international forum.

* share their insights in roundtable discussions.
