Freedom Speakers International will be holding its 16th English Speech Contest on August 27, 2022. The first 15 contests were off-the-record, no live streaming permitted, only limited photography and video allowed. That grew out of our history of North Korean refugees coming to us to study English and us wanting to respect the privacy of those students who wanted to remain anonymous. Many people would ask us to hold the contest online, but we knew that the students weren't necessarily eager for that and it would have destroyed our process then.
Then, COVID. We flipped our programming to focus more on public speaking rather than English tutoring (which we are bringing back in a different form). With our network of speakers growing, we have reached the tipping point that we believe we have enough North Korean refugees active within our network that we can have enough participants to join an online contest.
We are going to try it this August, but we need your help!
We need to raise another $3,300 to have a high-quality online contest. Your donation would be your ticket to watch the contest live online.
