My mom was born in North Korea.
In 2007 she escaped North Korea and came to the United States in
search of freedom.
During her escape and the arduous journey to find freedom, she
lost her most admired and loving husband, my father.
He was unceremoniously buried in the Mekong River in Laos.
Her whole life has been an arduous journey. Being born in North
Korea, she had no rights or freedom.
Losing her husband while trying to find freedom was a low point
in her life.
However, she survived and accomplished her dying husband's goal
to get to America and provide a better life for herself and their
daughters.
Unfortunately, her arduous journey is not over yet.
After going to the hospital after a heart attack, tests revealed
that she has breast cancer.
She must undergo surgery as soon as possible, but she doesn't
have health insurance because it is too expensive.
Already her bills for being in the emergency room are
$15,000. The hospital says they can't perform the surgery,
unless we can’t pay for the surgery cost.
Please help my family out. I want to see her smile
again.
I don't want her arduous journey from North Korea to America to
end with her dying from breast cancer.

저희 어머니는 북한을 떠난 후 2007년도에 자유를 찾아 미국에 난민으로 오게 되었습니다.
자유를 찾아 남편과 태국을 행을 떠났지만, 위험하고 험나한 여정중에 사랑하는 남편을 잃었습니다.
그리고, 라오스에서 남편의 시신을 땅에 묻지도 못하고 메콩강 물에 띄워 보냈습니다.
자유가 없는 북한땅에서 태어나신 저희 어머니는 삶 자체가 힘들고 고달픈 여정이었어요.
게다가 사랑하는 남편을 땅에 묻지도 못하고 강물에 띄워 보내고 난 후, 미국에 왔지만 3년 넘게 우울증으로
고생하셨습니다.
그러나 사랑하는 자식들을 위해 다시 힘을 내어 살아 보겠다고 하시며, 누구보다 더 열심히 일하시고, 어려운 사람들을
봉사하시며 사셨어요.
그런데 어머니의 힘든 여정은 여기서 끝이 아닌가 봅니다.
최근에 심장발작으로 응급실에 실려가셨고, 유방 암 진단을 받으셨습니다.
건강 보험이 없어서 응급실 치료비만 $15,000 나온 상태입니다.
수술을 빨리 해야 된다고 병원에서 얘기했지만, 수술비 내지 못하면 수술을 진행 할 수가 없다고 합니다.
저희 어머니가 수술 받으실 수 있게 도와주시길 간절히 부탁드립니다.
