Happy Birthday Jamie Lee!

Hello! This is Jamie Lee, a rising senior and representative of the TNKR club at Seoul Foreign School.

안녕하세요! 저는 곧 12학년으로 올라가는 서울외국인학교의 클럽 학생대표 이희진입니다.

Although it has been a few days since my birthday on the 4th, I would like to share my blessings with this community.

비록 제 생일이 지난 지 며칠이 지나긴했지만 여러분의 도움으로 그 행복을 나누고 싶습니다.

I joined the FSI GHSU not long ago, in order to make use of the talents and skills I was provided with. As an international school student, I was blessed with the opportunity to speak both Korean and English. Instead of using this skill to my own benefit, I wanted to contribute to the community - for the people who are in need of it the most. When I was introduced to TNKR (former name of FSI), I thought this was the chance for me to make use of my gifts. As one who aspires to become a teacher, I believe it is crucial for everyone to have an equal opportunity in education. North Korean refugees have sacrificed so much when coming to the South. Yet, they are placed at a disadvantage when it comes to going further in life due to the discrepancies in the North Korean and South Korean education system. FSI advocates empowering North Korean refugees through raising funds and providing free education. Please join me in this birthday fundraiser and contribute to sharing our blessings with the North Korean refugee community. Thank you!

몇 달 전, 저는 제게 주어진 재능들을 기부하기 위해 FSI GHSU에 가입했습니다. 저는 외국인학교 학생으로서 한국어와 영어를 유창하게 구사할 수 있는 기회가 주어졌습니다. 이 재능을 저만의 이익으로 사용하기보다는 공동사회 속에서 정말로 이 능력을 필요시하는 사람들에게 나누어주고 싶었습니다. 제가 처음 TNKR(FSI의 옛이름)에 대하여 알게 되었을 때 이 단체에 가입하는 것이 제 꿈을 실천하는 데에 도움이 될 것을 알았습니다. 훗날에 교사가 되고싶은 학생으로서 모든 이가 동일하게 교육을 받을 권리가 있다고 생각합니다. 탈북민들은 북한에서 내려올 때 많은 희생을 하고서도 교육의 차이 때문에 한국사회에 진출하는 데에 어려움을 겪습니다. FSI는 후원금을 모으고 무상교육을 제공함으로써 탈북민들이 한국에 정착하는 것에 도움을 줍니다. 여러분, 저와 함께 생일 후원활동에 참여함으로써 탈북민들과 행복을 나눠주세요. 감사합니다!
